The author, Henry Thomas Dix (1825-1902) was a Dublin solicitor and an active churchman. He appears to have written some hymns and some hymn-tunes but I cannot find any connection between him and William Chatterton Dix (1837-98) a better known churchman and hymn-wrier whose 'As with Gladness Men of Old' is probably his most popular piece...
