Once Lovely Lee

Blackheath and surrounding areas

St Margaret's, Lee - 1/4 mile from Blackheath village, along Lee Terrace. Built 1839-1841, replacing earlier medieval church.
Other side of St Margaret's
The tomb of Edmond Halley (1656–1742), from 1720 England's second Astronomer Royal and the discoverer of Halley's Comet is in the churchyard.
John Pond, another Astronomer Royal buried in the same tomb as Halley. John Pond lived in Blackheath, and Pond Road is named after him, not after the pond at one end!
What remains of the old medieval church, across the road from the current St Margaret's.
