Charles Strange

I have a copy of Strange's entry in the birth register. There seems to be some confusion about the spelling of his last name ("Strange" was apparently changed to "Strainge"?) and about his date of birth (in the "When Born" column it says "Ninteeth", but in the margin somebody wrote "Ninth" plus two letters – could that be initials? or is the marginal note supposed to mean something else?).
