kind interest in me and my work. May they be blessed in the fruit of their prayers and in their own souls too.
At Quebec dear Scott has been encouraged as —— I should think had succumbed to the dissenting section of the body he is with. The dissenters call it the 2nd Baptist church in ——. He had come to terms with them, and was thus half and half. There are brethren there, whom he wished to get in, but I should think his recent course will have pretty much settled the matter. It was not Bethesda, but might have embarrassed as to that.
I have enjoyed Luke much lately, as presenting the Person of the Lord.

Extract from Captain Scott’s letter
Quebec Oct. 17, 1862
You will be glad to hear that we found great blessing at the Guelph meeting – that town is 570 miles from Quebec and can be reached by the Grand Trunk Railroad in 36 hours. We were 90 in number gathered there and read for 8 hours a day in the house of our brother Arthur Wells, on Friday 20th Sept., Saturday, Monday, & Tuesday. Forty of us were accommodated in the house, & the rest in the town, & we numbered 70 at each meal at the long table at which we afterwards assembled for reading.
